Stoked is seeking a Development Chair for Board

Stoked Mentoring is seeking to fill its position of Development Chair on its board of directors. The Development/Fundraising Chairperson chairs the Development and Fundraising Committee, whose responsibility is to actively seek funding sources for Stoked’s programs and operations through private donations, grant opportunities, fundraising events, and corporate or foundation sponsorship. It is expected that a minimum of four grant proposals per year will be submitted. The Committee will reach out to Stoked supporters on an annual basis to request donations and to request information on possible funding/grant sources and partnerships.

The Development and Fundraising Committee’s job is not simply to raise money. It is responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall fundraising and, in particular, the fundraising done by the board. To accomplish this, its responsibilities are:

  • To work with staff and the board of directors to establish a fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, sponsorships, grants, direct mail appeals, product sales, etc.
  • To work with fundraising volunteers in their efforts to raise money
  • To take the lead in certain types of outreach efforts, such as hosting fundraising events.
  • To ensure involvement of all board members in fundraising, and
  • To monitor fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective.
