This past Saturday, 10 Stoked LA teens headed down to Skullcandy’s Headquarters for a day of workshops and skating. One of the major highlights of the day-long adventure was the Stoked crew meeting with Rick Alden, the CEO of Skullcandy, who spoke to the youth about pursuing their goals and achieving success. The teens also had the chance to skate with pro-skateboarder and Skullcandy Skate Team member, Greg Lutzka! The day ended with a Skullcandy gift bag for each kid. All and all it was an epic day for our Stokers. Many thanks to the good folks at Skullcandy for making it happen!
This past Saturday, October 23rd, Stoked had hosted its first Serve and Skate Day of the season! Led by Park Ranger Vinnie, a team of 25 Stoked members, including 20 high school students, spent three hours cleaning up Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. Jobs included restoring paths that had been washed out during recent storms and raking and bagging leaves to be used for composting. In just that short amount of time, Stoked cleared 25 wheel barrow loads of soil, removed about 75 bags of leaves, and helped to even out the ground around the basketball courts to make them safer to use.
Following the Fort Greene Park pick-up was a skate session! With a mix of experienced skaters and first timers, there was something for everyone to do and learn.
We’re looking forward to the next Serve and Skate Day coming up in November!
