Mentor Activity: Snow!
With winter storm number two due to hit us mid-week, how about taking your mentee out and show them the art of sledding! Don’t have a sled? Be creative! Anything that you can sit on and slide on can work, and it’s amazing to think that some city dwellers never take part in this essential winter activity. Head out to Central Park, Prospect Park, Fort Greene Park, or any other snow covered hill in the city!
Mentor Activity: MLK Jr. Tribute
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and with schools and many offices closed, there are several ways to celebrate this day around the city. On Monday, at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) will host its 25th Annual Brooklyn Tribute, with a 10:30am keynote speaker of Walter Mosley, the acclaimed novelist and social commentator. There will also be an art exhibit and musical performances. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis, so get there early! This event is FREE. Click here for more information and a map!
