The Senior Program Manager handles all aspects of program development and implementation, and ensures that program outcomes, resources, and delivery are achieving the mission of the organization. The Senior Program Manager will oversee the strategy and operations for the mentoring, action sports, and after-school programs, create and update curricula, supervise program staff, monitor program budgets, and secure supplies needed.
The Senior Program Manager must ensure that Stoked’s mentoring, action sports, and after-school programs operate at their highest levels by monitoring youth, mentor, volunteer, program partner, and school satisfaction with their involvement with the organization. The Senior Program Manager position ensures that programs achieve maximum impact to all participants in order to support Stoked’s vision of developing successful teens through action sports culture.
Responsibilities
- Oversee new program development and existing program implementation
- Monitor program progress towards annual goals by tracking program attendance, mentoring relationships, and academic performance of youth
- Prepare reports after each action sports program season and after-school workshop series is completed to assess programs are on track to meet annual goals, and complete annual evaluation of all programs at the year’s end
- Supervise the full-time New York and part-time Los Angeles Program Coordinators, and part-time after-school program assistants
- Develop curriculum for mentoring, action sports, after-school, and service programs
- Collect data, metrics, and statistics for the purposes of grants, evaluation of programs, and marketing
- Work closely with the President to develop the annual program strategy
- Develop and maintain mentoring partnerships, school partnerships, and vendor relationships
- Provide Development Manager with appropriate information to prepare proposals and reports to Stoked current and prospective donors
- Assist the President with the development of program marketing materials and documents that share information on Stoked, its program findings, and its best practices
- Inventory in-kind donations of all sports equipment
- Order necessary supplies
- Some travel to Los Angeles to oversee program delivery
Qualifications
- At least four years experience developing programs for youth ages 13-18, especially with after-school, mentoring, outdoor programs and activities
- Strong knowledge of best practices in youth development, mentoring, and after-school initiatives, and outdoor/experiential education
- Understanding of issues within the urban education field
- Experience developing and overseeing program budgets
- Ability to demonstrate success in working with volunteers and leading teams
- Experience identifying measurable outcomes, and evaluating youth development and/or after-school programs
- Experience managing staff
- Ability to think critically and strategically, and be resourceful and entrepreneurial with limited resources
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Masters Degree in related field preferred but not required
- Proficiency in skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding a plus, and knowledge of action sports culture preferred
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, as needed
