This past Saturday, March 19th over 120 teens, mentoring pairs, volunteers, and parents, showed up to the House of Vans to help launch Stoked’s Spring 2011 Stoked to Serve program. As sponsor of the program, House of Vans opened its doors and skate park to the Stoked community. They also decked out the venue with skateboards designed and built in Stoked’s Stoked: Plus Afterschool Skateboard Building program and provided everyone with a pizza feast. Thanks to the good folks at the House of Vans for being such amazing hosts and everyone who came out to support Stoked this weekend. Get excited for an amazing Stoked to Serve spring!!
Stoked to Serve strives to connect youth to their communities through service projects that beautify the urban environment such as cleaning parks and beaches or improving community gardens. The program offers the incentive of same-day skateboard when service projects are completed, and is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Youth under 21 who volunteer for 4 hours get a special invite to an exclusive House of Vans party and concert on June 18 along with free giveaways.
