Kosrae Skateboarding Project
Micronesia is a sub region of Oceania, comprising of thousands of small islands in the western Pacific Ocean. On the island of Kosrae, with a population of about 7,000, let’s just say skateboarding is not embedded in their culture. However, conceived by former Peace Corps Volunteer, Nathan Fitch, a progressive and enthusiastic skateboarding project has given, on average per program, 15 young Kosreans the opportunity to learn a passion abnormal to their culture. Stoked is proud to be a part of this project by sponsoring the decks and supporting further this great work! Keep it up!
Since there is a lack of a skateboard parks, ramps, stairs, bowls, banks, hills to bomb, rails to slide or curbs to grind, being creative and innovative are also benefits that these young Kosreans experienced.
