Stoked seeks a Volunteer Coordinator

Stoked Mentoring seeks a Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing all of the organizational interactions of Stoked’s volunteer base. This person will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a regularly distributed volunteer newsletter as well as regular reporting. This person shall report directly to the Senior Program Manager.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Recruiting and retaining potential and current volunteers
  • Conducting regular orientation sessions for new volunteers
  • Planning outreach and recognition events/mechanisms
  • Coordinating volunteer duties for Stoked program days and events
  • Liaising between volunteers and Stoked staff
  • Working in tandem with the Program Coordinator to facilitate Stoked snow, surf, skate and community service programming

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Proficiency in snowboarding, surfing or skateboarding; knowledge of action sports culture preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 1 – 2 year(s) experience conducting programs for youth ages 13-18; after-school, mentoring, outdoor programs and activities preferred
  • Understanding of issues surrounding urban education
  • Prior experience managing and/or organizing adult volunteers
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, and be resourceful and entrepreneurial with limited resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid computer skills (Word & Excel), Photoshop and other graphics software a plus
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed

 

Compensation dependent on experience.
