On Saturday, April 16th Stoked to Serve hosted by House of Vans held its first New York spring park cleanup! Despite the cold weather, over 25 teens showed up to the East River State Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to give back to the community. Stoked youth spent the morning alongside Stoked volunteers and mentors learning about the history of the park, the current environmental issues which the park is facing and the necessary action that needs to be taken to restore the public land. The first community service project was planting beach grass along the waterfront to reverse the negative effect of erosion. After planting, the Stokers moved on to mulching, which was followed by a large-scale trash pick-up. House of Vans and KIND Healthy Snacks were in attendance; helping with the cleanup, fueling the Stokers with tasty treats and lunch and blasting music from their vans! Many thanks to Vans and KIND for providing healthy snacks for the program and to all the good folks who attended the first Stoked to Serve!!
The next New York Stoked to Serve day is this Saturday, April 30th at McCarren Park in Williamsburg! Sign-up today on our Stoked to Serve website!
