Steve Larosiliere, President & Founder
Steve Larosiliere founded STOKED in 2005 and oversees the programmatic and administrative sides of the organization’s operations. Prior to founding STOKED, Steve worked at Mentoring USA as a mentor recruiter where he advocated for foster care youth by presenting the benefits of mentoring to corporations and government officials. In addition, he served as a mentor to foster care youth for eight years. He holds a BA in History from Stony Brook University and an MPA from Baruch College School of Public Affairs. In addition to snowboarding really big, steep mountains, skating around Brooklyn, running marathons, and reading lots of books, Steve loves spending time with his wife Ashley, baby boy Toren, and dog Dash.
Antonia Smith, Director of Programs and Operations
Antonia supervises both the regional programs and operations for New York and Los Angeles. Before joining STOKED, Antonia directed arts and education programs at Greenwich House and The Children’s Aid Society in Greenwich Village for eight years. Antonia is a doctoral student in the History and Education program at Teachers College Columbia University where she served as a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Center for History and Education. She also volunteers as the Program Coordinator for the S.O.S. Tutoring Program for court-involved youth at the Eastern District of New York. Antonia earned her B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.A. from Teachers College. When not at work trying to make the world a better place, you can find Antonia hiking in the woods, eating spicy food, or scuba diving somewhere warm and tropical!
HANNAH TALL, NEW YORK PROGRAM MANAGER
Hannah manages and facilitates all programming based in New York City. She also collaborates in volunteer recruitment and retention. Before joining STOKED, Hannah was an English Teaching Assistant in Bogotá, Colombia with the Fulbright program. She also has experience creating and implementing civic engagement programs for youth and young adults. Hannah is a proud New Yorker and sees STOKED as her opportunity to pay it forward. Hannah is passionate about volunteering and traveling. Outside of STOKED, she can be found in a boxing class, at a spoken word showcase, spending time with family, at a local bookstore or checking out a new restaurant.
MOLLY FOGARTY, NEW YORK PROGRAM MANAGER
Molly comes to New York by way of Buffalo, New York and with Hannah, is also responsible for managing and facilitating all programming in New York City . She has been snowboarding and skateboarding since she was 14 and is an Action Sports super-fan. She went to SUNY Cortland and majored in Sport Management while working at a local ski resort. Outside of STOKED, Molly loves spending time outside – preferably on a beach or a mountain. She can be seen riding from Astoria to Dumbo on her bike, probably carrying a million things. Other hobbies include exploring new comedy, new music, and playing rugby with The Village Lions Women’s Rugby Club.
Kathryn James-Jolly, Los Angeles Program Manager
Sunaina Rao, Operations Assistant
Sunaina is the Operations Assistant for STOKED in New York City, working to keep things running smoothly in the office. Before coming to STOKED, she completed two AmeriCorps years and worked at various youth development organizations. She earned her black belt through a program that was similar to STOKED and credits much of her self-confidence and drive to the years she spent training to become an instructor. She is currently attending The New School and earning her masters degree in Nonprofit Management. Outside of STOKED, she can be found refocusing through a yoga class, exploring a new museum exhibit, or cooking something delicious.
Jake camarena, Los Angles AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Jake has been volunteering for STOKED since 2008. His background is in new media; he and a partner owned a small media company called Media Social, which was acquired in 2010 by a San Francisco-based tech company. Currently, Jake is an active voice in the community. He is the Director of Communications for LA Green Grounds, an LA based non-profit with over 28 edible gardens. He also owns and operates dumbplastic.org, which is an eco-activist organization focused on lessening our use for single-use plastics. He has lectured on media and sustainability at General Assembly, FIDM and multiple high schools. As far as furthering his education, he is back at school studying law and writing for the LACC Collegian Newspaper. After passing the GRE this fall he is applying to masters programs and will be majoring in public policy.
Kathryn Ferraro, Los Angeles AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Chanel Glover, New York After School Coach
Chanel is a ‘trained’ lawyer who dabbles in playwriting, and desires most to be the first Black (Gay) Superwoman to rid the world of menacing stereotypes with just the stroke of her pencil. In May 2014, she completed an M.F.A. in playwriting at Ohio University. Previously, she was a practicing attorney in Chicago, IL, earning the honor to do so with a J.D. from Tulane University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Florida A&M University. When not at work, Chanel can be found running, completing a puzzle, searching for new tunes, or staring off into the clouds with a book in hand.
Valete Graham, NEW YORK AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Valete is a native of the Bronx, New York. As a youth, he tried his hand at just about every sport before finding his love — track & field. His passion for running lead him to New York Road Runners where he currently assists the youth and community services department. Valete earned his BA at SUNY Albany, and has been coaching for many years. He remains ever confident in the ability of all sports and physical activities to be a conduit for positive change in a student’s life. In his free time, Valete enjoys running, live music, improv comedy, and learning to code.
HArmeet Kala, NEW YORK AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Harmeet is a contemporary New Yorker by way of Cleveland, Ohio. His passion for music began at Ohio State University where as a full time student he DJ’d and met creatives with a shared love of music and entrepreneurial spirit and also where he initiated, nurtured and fostered his career in marketing. Innovative companies such as The FADER, Cornerstone and PUMA, programs for LaFace, Sony, Sprite, Microsoft, adidas, Paramount Pictures and Nike received the benefit of Harmeet’s sensibilities and insights. Like many, the India born Brooklynite hones his cultural and creative spirit engaging in NY culture, taking photos, playing basketball and riding his bike and along the way, missing his mother’s cooking.
David Ma, New York After School Coach
Dave is a native of Hartford, Connecticut and has been skateboarding for over 10 years. He attended Connecticut College where he got his BA in Psychology, and is thrilled to be able to work with youth and share his love of skateboarding. In his free time, Dave is involved in acting and music, having sang and played guitar in numerous bands over the years. He is currently in the process of starting a new project with some former bandmates from college. In addition to coaching for Stoked, Dave works as a booking agent for the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre where he also takes classes and performs improv comedy.
Kyle Samuelson, NEW YORK AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Kyle is from Omaha, Nebraska but comes to Stoked by way of Spain. He had been working and living there for the past four years after obtaining his masters degree and enjoyed spending his time playing/watching soccer, traveling all around Europe, and taking full advantage of the afternoon siesta. As a teenager he loved skating all through his neighborhood and when the snow fell, building ramps and rails to snowboard on with his friends. He did his undergraduate studies at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri where he studied English and played soccer. Being new to New York City, Kyle is loving exploring this crazy, eclectic, fast-paced, beautiful city. You can find him partaking in the expansive variety of ethnic foods the city has to offer or window shopping all the glorious stores he knows he can’t afford.
Noah Todaro, NEW YORK AFTER SCHOOL COACH
Noah is a lifelong Long Islander who is joining the STOKED staff after graduating from Tulane University with a degree in Marketing. Before STOKED, he has worked as an ice hockey coach, and also plays year-round in men’s league himself. Most months of the year, you can find Noah out skateboarding street spots around his town. In the winter, he can be found snowboarding on a mountain, or more probably at a local hill building his own jumps and jibs with friends. Noah’s other likes include funny movies and shows, the New York Rangers, and good music from almost all genres.
