This past weekend we did a Skate Mentor program day for Salt Lake City mentoring pairs and local area youth during the Dew Action Sports Tour. This Skate Mentor day had great energy! The group of 8-11 year olds from Salt Lake City were the best! Once the kids got their boards, they took off and started skating non stop for 3 hours. We were fortunate enough to get a visit from Chaz Ortiz, a Zoo York skater who’s currently #3 on the tour. He spoke to the kids, did a quick demo on our mini ramp, and signed some autographs. Oh, by the way he won the Skate Park competition a few hours later! He must’ve been stoked! Congrats to him! We wish him luck with the rest of the Dew Tour! In the evening, we had an art auction during the Dew Tour sponsored by Toyota’s Antics campaign for the Matrix. Locals and pros stopped by to hear DJs spin music, get t-shirts printed, and bid on art in our art auction. Many thanks to Toyota, Filter, Rita Wadhwani, Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salt Lake City, Triple 8 Helmets, Technique Skate & Snow, and all of the artists who participated in the auction. Check out the pictures below. This is Kenny, the owner of Technique Skate & Snow. He provided all the decks for Skate Mentor. He first opened up his shop in West Jordan, Utah 7 years ago when he was 21.
